Father to the Fatherless
“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation.” Psalm 68:5 NKJV
I am grateful for the Lord’s compassionate concern and care for the weak and needy. God is what people need. The fatherless need a father, Yahweh is there. The widows need a defender; God is there.
It was November 2020 and our front lobby at the PRC was full of men. Fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers desire to stand in the gap for the fatherless. I knew God was calling me to send a call out to the men that wanted to serve at PRC in a different way. I had a picture in my mind of what that looked like, but God’s plan was and is always bigger than ours. He just wants us to step out in faith and be obedient to what He is saying.
I had “my plan”. That November 2020, it was the plan to have a call list of men to minister to the men that came in. Because the majority of the time a man is the primary influencer in a women’s decision to choose life or death for her child. If a guy showed up with a girl at her appointment we could go down the list and call the men to come in. That worked for some time, but what was a call list soon turned into having a male volunteer advocate each afternoon we are open.
The “Champion Men” program has turned into more than I could have ever imagined. Isn’t that just like God?!
We are coming up on Father’s Day and I know for many this is a hard day just like Mother’s Day is. Wherever you are today—I want you to know that we are making a difference together. When you give financially, volunteer your precious time, and pray for what God is doing in and through us—together we are not only standing in the gap as an earthly father, but we have an amazing opportunity to introduce them to our Heavenly Father.
The ONE who will never leave us or forsake us. The image above is one of our champion men walking around the building with one of our brave moms’ little girl. Not only are new dads getting to see the fruit of our Champion men’s program. They are also getting to see what an important role of a healthy father looks like. Not just for men that come in, but women as well. Fathers to the Fatherless.
I can list many, many dads that have come through our support services just this year —that have a foundation set on what healthy fatherhood looks like. They are getting to see the miracle of life on the ultrasound screen. They are choosing life as a family unit and we get the opportunity through your support to walk alongside them during and after pregnancy.
Thank you for standing in the gap for brave families. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of brave families that are walking through our door each and every day. God is moving in and through your love and support you pour out each day.
Thank you for allowing your gifts to be used to be a father to the fatherless!
